This year, we’ve been embracing comfortable clothes made by local designers. Looking for something to keep you cosy at home, or something bright to step out in post-lockdown? Visit the MADE MAKERS galleries from Friday 9th April to find unique designs by independent British makers. Read on to meet three of our makers!
JULES HOGAN KNITWEAR
“I will be exhibiting my Spring ideas, a collection of garments and accessories using pre-dyed and naturally dyed yarn. I have designed new pieces especially for MADE MAKERS. My work is inspired by nature, landscapes and seascapes. Colour is always the starting point with a subtle palette, uplifted with seasonal highlights. Hues are chosen to flatter and silhouette to enhance the human form.”
CAROLE WALLER
“My Spring collection The View from Here is inspired by the winter trees surrounding my studio and home – closely observed in recent months! I will showcase hand-painted one-off scarves and shirts in linen, lightweight cashmere and silk. I make clothing because I love the idea of paintings that move.”
SANDRA HARDY
“I will introduce two coat designs that incorporate Harris tweed. There will also be a new one-off textural pin tuck coat, as well as a selection of new colourful lightweight wool scarves, jackets & coats for spring. I use traditional decorative stitch techniques, inspired by historical fashion, beautiful vintage couture styling, and the use of colour.”
MADE MAKERS is live from 7pm, Friday 9th April to Sunday 11th April. Browse contemporary textiles and much more in the galleries!
